BILLINGS – After serving as the head coach of the men’s and women’s soccer programs at Rocky Mountain College since 2009, Richard Duffy will shift, full-time, to be the Head Coach of the women’s team as Rocky Athletics will begin a national search for a Head Men’s Soccer Coach.
“This restructuring is exciting as it will allow our soccer program to continue to grow and better serve our student-athletes,” said Athletic Director Jim Klemann. “Coach Duffy has done a tremendous job in building these two programs, and now we will look to take the next step in supporting and enhancing Battlin’ Bears Soccer.”
Coach Duffy began his coaching career with the Battlin’ Bears in 2001 as an assistant women’s coach before taking over as head coach just a season later in 2002. In 2009, he became the program’s first head coach for the men’s soccer team. In his time with the men’s soccer program, Coach Duffy totaled five conference regular season championships, five conference tournament championships, and seven appearances in the NAIA National Tournament, including two appearances in the Round of Eight. In his 15 seasons, Coach Duffy amassed an overall record of 166-85-20 with the men’s program. Duffy is currently listed on both the men’s and women’s soccer top 25 in the NAIA for active winningest coaches.
The restructuring will allow Coach Duffy to resume control of the team with which he began his coaching career. Under his direction, the program has also seen high success, including four regular-season conference championships and two national tournament appearances. In his 23 seasons, Coach Duffy combined for an overall record of 211-149-35, including a 93-57-15 record (60.9% win percentage) in conference play.
A national search will begin immediately for the next Men’s Soccer Head Coach.
